Moody Kids at the Photo Session - How to Handle?

Moody Kids at the Photo Session - biggest fear for every parent. That’s one of the most common concerns I hear from moms when they call me to book the photo shoot.
I feel you, my dear moms! I have a 7 years old kid myself, we’ve passed all the tantrums! Right now we are at the stage when she refuses to pose at all. I know sometimes we have that perfect dream picture in mind, where the kids always smile, and peacefully play and pose. As many things as you might have planned in your head, things don’t always work out.
For me, my sessions are about authentic emotions and having children express themselves for who they are. And in this post I want to mention a few things I try to discuss with my parents before the photo shoot to make sure your session goes well. First, I always ask parents that our session is scheduled for a time that is the best compromise between the children’s daily routine and the best light of the day. Next, Don't make a huge deal out of it. If you're stressed out and cranky, your kids will usually pick up on it and act accordingly. Their behavior will usually be better if you are relaxed and having fun. I always ask that parents be in a forgiving and relaxed mood for the day. . During the Shoot just save your sanity by trying not to control the photo session too much. Sometimes the best photos come from kids just doing their own thing. . If it Simply isn’t Working I have found that sometimes just giving the child a break for a few minutes can help to let them be much more relaxed for the session. . Disclaimer: the kid posted in these photos is my niece and she was not all “moody.” These images were able to be created because of the various hints I mentioned above.
